Hinesville Military Affairs Committee
Community Information

The communities that surround the Fort Stewart installation are both active and welcoming to the military and their dependents. The most immediate town adjacent to Fort Stewart is the city of Hinesville. Hinesville and Liberty County is one of Georgia's fastest growing areas.

The area sports many attractions for those interested in history, being connected to two signers of the Declaration of Independence (Button Gwinnett and Lyman Hall). There is also the famous Historic Liberty Trail, a driving tour that takes you back through history via marsh and oak forests to six museums and historic sites.

AREA NEWSPAPERS

The Coastal Courier — Hinesville's award winning newspaper. It comes out three times per week (Sunday, Wednesday and Friday) and will keep you up to date on local community news and happenings.
The Savannah Morning News — the newspaper for the Savannah area. Delivered seven days per week covering national, international news, sports and features, the SMN will keep you informed.
